It’s a good problem to have. New Orders – Minimum Lead Times

As we all know, the oil and gas industry has had quite a rough time the last couple years. Consistent volumes and orders declined significantly, as our customers worked through their inventory levels.

We have a new (and much better) challenge that we haven’t seen in a while…NEW ORDERS!!! Our customers now need product, but because there is no product in queue, they are requiring it inside of lead time, which presents challenges to our manufacturing team. Read More

Annual inventory – GPC employees completed one of the biggest fiscal responsibilities of the year!

Inventory is one of those labor-intensive, but very important parts of managing a business. It is a huge undertaking that allows GPC to show customers our financial accountability. While we have a sophisticated ERP system, which tracks inventory throughout its life cycle, we also do a physical inventory annually at the end of September utilizing an outside audit firm to ensure standard and consistent accounting practices. Construction Update – New facility in Full Swing

The construction of our new state-of-the-art facility is moving along! Slabs have been poured for all three buildings: the material’s building will be complete on 9/15, the manufacturing building will be complete on 10/15 and the office building will be complete in December. For the second year in a row, General Plastics & Composites sponsored a University of Houston senior design team in the 2013 Shell Eco-Marathon.

The Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra energy-efficient vehicles. With annual events first in the Americas, then Europe and Asia, the winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least amount of energy. Read More

Machining is Critical Component of Developing Oilfield Composite Materials

Turnkey products require a combination of metal, rubber and composites. With our subsidiary, GP Rubber and our dedicated metal machining division, we routinely deliver turnkey assemblies to the largest global oilfield service companies.

Recent machinery additions bring our totals up to more than 70 CNC and conventional machines including lathes and mills with 4 and 5 axis with pallet changing capability, lengths up to 200″ and diameters up to 25″. Read More
